Class Descriptions
Beginning Level
Perfect for beginning students and for students who seek to refresh their understanding of fundamental poses. This is a well-paced progressive class where we practice basic standing, seated, twists, back bends, forward bends and beginning inverted poses. Students build strength, stamina and develop a basic repertoire of yoga poses.
Level 1
The foundation of the method is continued through standing poses, which prepares students for all other poses. The practice continues with the study of forward extensions, twists, back bends, restoratives and shoulderstand. Headstand is introduced. We recommend attending class 2-3 times per week to establish a regular practice. Pranayama and yoga philosophy is introduced.
Level 1 - 2
The class focus is on refining basic postures and introducing new poses including handstand, padmasana (lotus), deeper back bends, forward bends and pranayama. Students continue an inversion practice and learn variations. This class is appropriate for students who regularly attend Level 1 classes.
Level 2 & 3
For students with an understanding of the basic poses and who are ready to expand their study with more challenging poses. Yoga Sutra study introduced and pranayama practiced.
Gentle Yoga & Meditation
Gentle Yoga allows both new and experienced students to learn poses and breathing at a slower pace. Poses are taught in a systematic manner. Yoga props will be used as needed to help you gently stretch, strengthen, balance, energize and heal. This class is also beneficial for new students with minimal flexibility to learn and move with more ease, for students with challenging conditions, students recovering from illness or injury, mothers returning after pregnancy and seniors. Meditation is taught and practiced.
Restorative & Pranayama
The class focus is on relaxation. Poses are held longer (with support, as needed) to allow the body to rest deeply, offering recovery and a restored sense of tranquility. Supported poses are intended for rejuvenation that soothe the nervous system. These poses are healing and alleviate chronic tension. Pranayama (breathwork) is practiced.
