Yoga Darśana is a diverse community of people that meet and practice yoga together. Our space is dedicated to learning the art of yoga and the desire to evolve in the practice with clarity and mindfulness. We officially began in the winter of 2004 and have been growing organically since this time. We are located in the heart of Alhambra in the San Gabriel Valley and look forward to welcoming you in person!
Meet The Team
Our teachers are dedicated, compassionate and skilled in the art of teaching yoga asana. They are helpful in guiding and assisting students move deeper into their practice. The instructors are either Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers (CIYT) or are currently mentoring with a CIYT and studying towards certification in the Iyengar Yoga method.
Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned practitioner, there is a class for you at Yoga Darśana. We invite you to explore the various levels of yoga classes offered to assist your practice. The classes include, restoratives and pranayama, gentle yoga and meditation, beginning levels and classes from levels I - III to accommodate more challenging classes for ongoing students.
Dora Elena Hasenbein
Dora Elena Hasenbein is the director and co-owner of Yoga Darśana. She was born and raised in South America and lived in Germany. Dora graduated from the three-year Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program of Southern California. She is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher at the Intermediate Junior II Level and a Certified Yoga Therapist. She studied yoga philosophy at Loyola Marymount University and continues to study yoga philosophy. Dora practiced and apprenticed the study of Iyengar Yoga with Karin O’Bannon. She continues studies and mentors with Gloria Goldberg and also studies with senior teachers. Dora is on the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS) Ethics Training Committee. She is passionate about sharing her love of yoga and believes it is accessible to everyone.
Wolfgang is co-owner of Yoga Darśana. He was born and raised in Germany. He studied art and received his degree from the University of Berlin. Wolfgang started studying yoga philosophy and meditation in his teens. He was influenced by the writings of Hermann Hesse and especially after reading Siddhartha. After studying yoga with senior Iyengar yoga teachers, he has been teaching gentle yoga and meditation since 2004. Wolfgang shares his understanding of yoga philosophy and meditation with all students.
Dewey was born in Chicago, and studied at University of Illinois, Chicago receiving a BFA in Industrial Design and a BFA in Sculpture. He moved to Los Angeles to attend CalArts and received an MFA in Art. He is current faculty at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Dewey has been a student of Iyengar yoga for over 20 years. He is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and continues his studies with several senior teachers.
Vanessa discovered yoga as a student at CSULA and continued her practice after graduation. She is certified at the Iyengar Intro I/II level. Outside of the studio, she works as a wardrobe stylist for award winning television programs and films. She finds great fulfillment in being able to pursue both her passions for styling and yoga. She continues to teach and study in Los Angeles with occasional visits to Pune, India.
Tina started attending yoga classes with Purusha Hickson in 2001 and began teaching yoga in 2005. She completed a yoga teacher training and the Silver Age Yoga Basic Senior Teacher Certification program. She has been a student of Iyengar yoga since 2005 and continues her studies with Dora Hasenbein at Yoga Darśana. Tina is a graduate of the three-year Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training program of Southern California. Tina is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and compassionate about sharing her experiences and love of yoga with all students.
Danielle Ou started her yoga studies at the Institute of Iyengar Yoga of Los Angeles in 2001. Regular classes led to frequent workshops, which led to enrollment in the Teacher Training program, and finally in 2005 she spent two months at the Iyengar Institute in Pune, India. Life got busier as she became a mom of two boys, but she continued to study with with senior teachers whenever possible, and became a certified Iyengar instructor in 2014. She looks forward to having more time for yoga as her sons grow older, but there is no rush. She is not the first to discover that yoga makes her a better mother and her family make her a better yoga student -- yoga enriches all aspects of life.
Becky graduated from the 3-year Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program of Southern California and is a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. She had the great privilege of studying with the Iyengar family in Pune, India in 2014 and 2017. She regularly studies with many of the senior teachers including Manouso Manos and Gloria Goldberg. As a textile designer, Becky spends most of the day sitting in front of a computer. She uses yoga to combat the Ill-effects of a computer job and to bring relief from stress and fatigue. She has a relaxed, approachable teaching style and strives to challenge students while creating a safe and welcoming environment.
Jacqueline has been practicing Iyengar yoga since 2015. She discovered Iyengar yoga at Yoga Darsana and felt the benefits -emotional release and physical strength- when she began practicing regularly. Yoga is a part of Jacqueline's journey. She enjoys helping others stay healthy in mind, body, and spirit. Jaqueline is currently mentoring with Dora Hasenbein.
Chigusa Saga is certified Iyengar teacher introductory 1&2.
Chigusa Saga began practicing yoga when she moved to the US from Japan in 2000. Just when she started to teach in 2012, she was fortunate to meet some of the great Iyengar teachers. Ever since then she has been studying Iyengar yoga. She is currently apprenticing with Marla Apt and Dora Hasenbein. Her passion is to share the wonders and benefits of yoga practice that can be applied to our day today lives.
Claudia Wepper was introduced to Iyengar Yoga over 30 years ago. Her studies of yoga began while she was living in New York. She continued to practice Iyengar Yoga when she relocated to Florida. After moving to Los Angeles, California, Claudia attended the three-year Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training of Southern California. Claudia is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and continues studying with senior teachers.
